Dogecoin Tweets Elicit A Grimace

The hashtag “Accept Doge” is trending on Twitter ($TWTR@US). The hashtag started trending amid the buzz surrounding Elon Musk’s request to McDonald’s ($MCD@US) to accept Dogecoin ( $0.096 ) as a form of payment. McDonald’s and its rival BurgerKing ($QSR@US) have been grappling over cryptocurrency. McDonald’s had responded to Musk’s tweet by saying, in jest, that it would accept the billionaire’s request if Tesla ($TSLA@US) began accepting a made-up coin called Grimace Coin that features the McDonaldland mascot Grimace. Rival Burger King swooped in to get its share of the DOGE community’s affection, with a tweet saying “only a king knows what da coin can do.” MrBeast Burger, a fast-food chain owned by YouTuber Jimmy Donaldson, told Musk in a tweet that its stores would work on accepting Dogecoin ( $0.096 ) if Musk would retweet MrBeast’s post. The Dogecoin ( $0.096 ) and Shiba Inu communities have been clamoring for McDonald’s and other fast-food chains to accept the two cryptocurrencies as payment options. Dogecoin ( $0.096 ) is down about 3% during the past 24 hours.
