Nostr-based social media application Damus‘ user count surpassed 45,000 on its first day and continues to grow.
All new accounts are created as followers of the Damus app’s official page within the app. At the time of writing, the Damus page has a total of 45,454 followers.

The app has been ready for release for the past few months, when it finally got approved for launch by the Apple Store on Feb. 1.
The Damus app team didn’t release official information about the number of accounts. However, the app’s official Twitter account shared that the app entered the top 10 Social Networking charts on the Apple Store roughly 10 hours after its release.
The app is a version of decentralized Twitter that gives users complete control over their content and data. Its code has been accessible on GitHub since December 2022.
