Crypto crimes taking over Hong Kong | The Daily Forkast

Over 500 cryptocurrency-related crimes have been reported in Hong Kong, just for the six months of this year. That number alone has exceeded the total number of crimes in 2020 and has resulted in losses worth millions of US dollars. Experts say this is caused by the growing popularity of crypto, and the fact that everyone is online during COVID-19. Afterpay is acquired by Square for US$29B, allowing Square’s Cash App to offer BNPL services. This comes as Square announces additional investment into DeFi. Meanwhile Tencent launches an NFT platform that features 300 audio NFTs as its debut sale. This is an interesting option to pursue given China’s crypto crackdown. That’s all on this edition of The Daily Forkast.
