That number alone has exceeded the total number of crimes in 2020 and has resulted in losses worth millions of US dollars. Experts say this is caused by the growing popularity of crypto, and the fact that everyone is online during COVID-19. Afterpay is acquired by Square for US$29B, allowing Square’s Cash App to offer BNPL services. This comes as Square announces additional investment into DeFi.
